It’s Friday, so let’s end this week on a ridiculous note.
While browsing for chocolate news in Google I stumbled across this video. It shows a woman who wants chocolate, but apparently the airplane steward refuses to sell it to her. Not only does she get mad, her family joins in and starts verbally abusing the steward. They throw insults and curse at him.
This video is not in English, but there is English caption. This is one of the most pathetic things I’ve ever seen. It’s a little over a minute long, so it won’t take up much of your day, but you actually have to see this to believe it. The link opens in a new window. I tired my best to embed the video but it refused to embed. So you’re going to have to watch it by clicking on the link. My apologies for the inconvenience.
Why do I say this woman is addicted to chocolate? I’m not a doctor, so I this is an uneducated guess, but I see some signs of addiction in this video.
She is clearly going through withdrawal if she is getting violent about not having chocolate. I’m not sure how I feel about that. Chocolate is not worth getting violent over. I’ve gone through withdrawal symptoms when I had an addiction to caffeine, and I never got violent. The worst I ever got was a massive headache, and I just drank water and slept it off.
To throw a fit when you don’t have a substance is a clear sign of addiction.
Not Caring About the Consequences
Anyone with a shred of common sense and decency wouldn’t have raised such hell over some candy. I, personally, would have been embarrassed if she were my family member and she were acting like that. I wouldn’t have yelled at the steward, I would have yelled at her. Sit down and shut up.
Notice that the steward threatens that her sister won’t set foot in their destination. You caused all of that drama over a candy bar, and now you’ll probably be arrested when you get off the plane. Congratulations. You didn’t think things through, and now you’re paying for it.
Then someone yells something racist. “What is she, an Arab?” What does that have to do with anything? So if she were an Arab she wouldn’t be entitled to chocolate? Now the world thinks they’re racist. Nice going.
Apparently she didn’t care about the consequences of her actions or the way people perceived her. Both the woman and her family members felt like they could threaten/intimidate the steward into getting what they want. The same thing is true of all addicts. If they want it bad enough, they’re going to get it no matter what. They don’t care how it affects them or the people in their lives. They just want their fix.
Family Members That Feed Your Habit
You’ve heard the stories of parents who will give their kids money for one thing even though they know they’re going to use it for drugs. Or they’ll let their addicted family members stay in their house, even though they know all they’re doing is wasting their life getting drunk/high. This behavior is called enabling. And this video contains a pretty bad case of enabling.
I’m pretty appalled by the fact that this woman’s sister is acting a bigger fool than the woman is. I mean, she isn’t the one that wants the chocolate. Her sister is viagra suisse prix. Why is she getting verbally abusive then? I can only guess what happens when this woman doesn’t get her way at home. I’d be afraid to live with her.
While it’s unusual for family members to become violent when the addict doesn’t get their drug of choice, apparently, it does happen.
Actual Chocolate Addiction Symptoms
All dark humor and joking aside, there really is such a thing as chocolate addiction. The website Chocolate Rehab has a list of symptoms on this page. I took the quiz and only answered yes to two of them, so I’m in the clear. But if you have a chocolate addiction and you want to get help for it, I suggest you see a professional. We don’t want you or your family members acting like the woman on that plane. That’s just not right.
People are taking this video as a sign that racism among Israelis is really bad. I don’t know anything about that. Although the racist comments should definitely be addressed and talked about, my first thought when I saw this video was “This woman has a clear addiction problem.” Her racist comments have nothing to do with that. The addiction is probably just an excuse to act like that.
Like I said, I don’t know this woman personally. I’m not a doctor. All of the conclusions I’ve drawn could be drop dead wrong. She could be the nicest woman in the universe and she’s just having a bad day because she’s pregnant and cranky. I don’t know. I’ll probably never know. One thing I do know: that video is really messed up.
What would you have done if you were on the plane with that woman? Let me know in the comments.
